Are You Trapped by the Need to Be Perfect?
“I know I need to do this, but I’m not doing it.” “I wonder why I procrastinate.” “I’m Just a procrastinator.”
These are all things I’ve heard clients and students say when they’re not doing something they know they need to do or they have agreed to do. If they dug a bit deeper, what they’re saying would sound more like this:
- It’s something I absolutely hate doing.
- I’m afraid I won’t be able to do it.
- I don’t know how to do it.
- I’m a perfectionist and know I can’t do it perfectly.
- I’m afraid of what I’ll learn by doing it.
- I’m afraid of what will happen next if I do it.
- I think it’s beneath me to do it.
The process of doing it stirs up unpleasant memories.
Each of these secret reasons expresses a limiting belief. Even if you logically know it can’t possibly be true letting go of a belief may seem impossible.
That’s where the process in this book is so astonishing. When you say the three sentences in the basic Logosynthesis procedure, those beliefs usually dissolve.
Sometimes saying the sentences leads you to more information about even deeper beliefs, or the reason for those beliefs. Rerepeating the sentences about deeper beliefs lets those go easily and gently. Then procrastination disappears and you easily do what you have been avoiding.
You’ll be amazed how taking a little time to learn this powerful tool will improve your life. Start now.
This post is a comment I wrote about a passage on Page 69 revised edition, Page 76 original of Letting It Go: Relieve Anxiety and Toxic Stress in Just a Few Minutes Using Only Words (Rapid Relief with Logosynthesis®). You can see the passage in the book. You can also see the excerpt here. This link will take you to Bublish.com, where I regularly publish comments on parts of this book. This is a site where authors share of their work. You can subscribe to my musings, there, as well as to the musings of many other authors. It’s a great place to learn about new books and I recommend that you visit.
