Finally Release That Secret Resentment
Every personality assessment I have ever taken suggests that I develop patience.
Now that my husband does things slowly because of real physical limitations, I’m torn. I often find myself trying to look patient while secretly thinking critical thoughts and wishing he would just hurry up.
I don’t outwardly blame him for things he can’t control, but as a caregiver, this added stress is an unnecessary burden for me.
The three-sentence stress relief process I teach in this book does not help me develop anything. It helps me retrieve energy that is stuck in old memories, beliefs and fantasies that cause me problems.
When I searched for the belief behind my impatience, I discovered that I believe I should not have to wait. I know it’s not logical but part of me definitely believes that. I said the sentences inserting “this belief that I shouldn’t have to wait” and it seems to help.
When you have trouble letting go of an old behavior or attitude that you know doesn’t serve you, try searching for the memory, belief or fantasy that is lurking just out of your conscious awareness. It’s not hard to do.
Then insert a description of where your energy is stuck into the sentences. Then follow the procedure I outline in Chapter 7 of LETTING IT GO. Take your time and let the stuck energy begin to move. Just follow the simple procedure and notice how your responses to old problems change. Start now!
This post is a comment I wrote about a passage on Page 85 revised edition, Page 101 original of Letting It Go: Relieve Anxiety and Toxic Stress in Just a Few Minutes Using Only Words (Rapid Relief with Logosynthesis®). You can see the passage in the book. You can also see the excerpt here. This link will take you to Bublish.com, where I regularly publish comments on parts of this book. This is a site where authors share of their work. You can subscribe to my musings, there, as well as to the musings of many other authors.
