Lisa told me she wanted to start doing things for herself but couldn’t seem to get started. It had been several months since her mother had died, and she was free from the overwhelming caretaking responsibilities she had willingly accepted.
Since time and money were not a problem, we started looking at what was keeping her from doing what she wanted and really needed to do. She finally said, “I wonder if it has something to do with what I did last time I had this much freedom. I really went wild then. I’m too embarrassed to tell you some of the stuff I did.”
I asked her to list what she wanted to do for herself now and the list was pretty tame: visit an old friend, buy some new clothes, get a personal trainer. Last time turned out to have been 30 years ago, back when she had also been drinking heavily.
We all carry many old, limiting beliefs that we may not even remember until we feel stuck about something. You can often easily discover what old belief is in the way. This 3-sentence process makes it easy to free yourself and move on. Get started now!
This post is a comment I wrote about a passage on Page 46 revised edition, P 49 original of Letting It Go: Relieve Anxiety and Toxic Stress in Just a Few Minutes Using Only Words (Rapid Relief with Logosynthesis®). You can see the passage in the book. You can also see the excerpt here. This link will take you to Bublish.com, where I regularly publish comments on parts of this book.
