Uncover the Real Cause. Reclaim Your Energy

We have been married for 66 years and had been practicing psychotherapy together for over 50 years until he retired a few years ago. Our routines are pretty smooth, so when I realized that we had developed a new pattern that wasn’t working, I questioned it.

I would be ready to leave at a time we had agreed upon. I would say so, and he would act startled and begin to get ready. We would leave a few minutes late and I would feel angry and ask him to pay attention to being ready on time.

Since we both use the timers on our phones routinely to keep to our schedules, I stopped pretending it was about forgetfulness. I pointed out the pattern of him repeatedly doing something that left me angry. He agreed to think about it and realized he was angry about waiting for me to complete my long bedtime routine.

This wasn’t exactly news. We had repeatedly tried to figure out a routine that worked for both of us. He decided to see what happened if he used the Logosynthesis® routine I teach in LETTING IT GO about his frustration.

He used the phrase “Laurie’s bedtime routine” while saying each of the 3 sentences and reclaimed his energy from believing I should change. Since then, he has been ready to leave on time.

If you are stuck in a pattern that doesn’t make sense, look for a deeper cause, and reclaim your energy too. Learn how now!

This post is a comment I wrote about a passage on Page 85 revised edition, Page 101 original of  Letting It Go: Relieve Anxiety and Toxic Stress in Just a Few Minutes Using Only Words (Rapid Relief with Logosynthesis®). You can see the passage in the book. You can also see the excerpt here. This link will take you to Bublish.com, where I regularly publish comments on parts of this book. This is a site where authors share of their work. You can subscribe to my musings, there, as well as to the musings of many other authors. It’s a great place to learn about new books and I recommend that you visit.
