Embrace Prosperity, Not Other People’s Rules
A retirement-aged client was disappointed when he learned that he would be unable to pay off an unexpected medical debt as soon as he had hoped to. He explained how he had worked many extra hours and was too tired to even enjoy his time off. Hi simply couldn’t keep up the pace.
I asked what he was trying to accomplish, and he told me he wanted to become debt-free as soon as possible. Instead of asking why, I asked him to complete the sentence “I want to become debt free SO THAT…” and his first answer was to not leave anything any debts in his estate. I was puzzled, knowing that he owned valuable property.

I asked him to try another SO THAT and his answer surprised him. It was SO THAT he would be a good person, by standards he didn’t even know he was trying to live by. He recognized that the urgency to pay the debt made no sense when he really wanted a balanced life and left my office with a new sense of freedom.
Do you understand your own SO THAT? What are you doing with your time, energy or money that doesn’t serve you, just because you think you should? When you find things you want to change but have trouble releasing them, use the 3-sentence Logosynthesis process to reclaim your energy and move on.
