What Excuse Keeps You Stuck?

I was fascinated when I first learned about ChatGPT. As a writer and a longtime Star Trek fan, I could imagine endless possibilities for other people, but not for me. I told myself that I was too old to take on the project of learning something so new and different. Besides, I was really busy with other things.

Then my old habit of just jumping into interesting things kept surfacing. (The title of the memoir I am currently writing is “I Said Yes.”) I argued with myself, dipped my toe into a couple of free seminars, and then decided to try the three magic sentences that make up the process I teach in LETTING IT GO.

I focused on “this belief that I am too old to take on learning something new.” By the time I completed the process a few minutes later, my self-talk had changed dramatically. Now it was about signing up for the class I was most interested in and going as slowly as I needed to to absorb the information. I loved the class even though I only finished part of it. I’m thrilled with my new tools and keep discovering new ways to use them.

I’ll save writing about my adventures for another time. Right now, consider the excuses you give yourself for not taking on new challenges. They sound like “too busy, too broke, too little education, too young, old, scared, out of shape…”

Explore using the process to move past your limiting beliefs.

This post is a comment I wrote about a passage on Page 76 revised edition, Page 84 original of  Letting It Go: Relieve Anxiety and Toxic Stress in Just a Few Minutes Using Only Words (Rapid Relief with Logosynthesis®). You can see the passage in the book. You can also see the excerpt here. This link will take you to Bublish.com, where I regularly publish comments on parts of this book. This is a site where authors share of their work. You can subscribe to my musings, there, as well as to the musings of many other authors. It’s a great place to learn about new books and I recommend that you visit.
