You Can Care—and Still Say No

Are your inbox, your mailbox and your private space inundated with requests for money? Mine are and I struggle to manage it. I’m confused, are you?

I want to share my abundance and help where help is needed. And yet…

I alternate between wanting to help and feeling angry at the invasion, sad that there is so much pain in the world and that powerful forces contribute to it instead of helping alleviate it.

Then, to confuse things even more, the scammers are regularly trying to take advantage of us and siphon off the funds meant to help others. And others request money to help defeat the scammers.

I make donations to service, religious and political organizations that do work I strongly believe is important. Yet once I donate to an organization, I get escalating requests to donate more.

Then there is the question of how much to donate. So many requests are designed to make me feel guilty for not donating more.

I confess, I enjoy my comfortable lifestyle and want to preserve it. And I can’t possibly donate to each organization that asks, even if I strongly believe in what they do. I need to make choices and so do you. A personal strategy helps.

My long-term goal is to help create a world where we all enjoy abundance. Short term, I periodically choose where to make donations and ignore most requests. What’s your strategy?

EMBRACE PROSPERITY helps you clarify beliefs and create strategies that work now.
